Output sorting of part grids

Background

A feature has been added to improve sorting of tag entries in the outstanding and selected part grid in the Cut Optimiser application.

When retrieving tag items for a particular product, the tags are ordered (by default) as date required, schedule number, bar shape and lastly length.

During selection of tags to be included in a cut, this order can be disturbed. If the order is not manually reset then the tags for the cut will be printed in the order that they appear in the parts to be cut list.

Output sorting ensures that the order that the tags are printed in non-optimised cuts is constant and is not affected by sorting choices made during the selection of parts to include in the cut.

Requirements

You will need access to the Cut Optimiser application and have read other articles in this section as to how to basically use the application.

This feature is only available in versions 2.1.31 and Later.

Setting up the Auto Sort parameters

Auto sort parameters are set on a user by user base as requirements for different production staff varies by site.

To access the settings, use the file|Optimiser Settings|Output Settings menu option:

The following dialog will appear:

By default, this feature is disabled and will have no effect on the sorting of parts. To enable the feature place a tick against "Auto-apply sorting before printing".

This will enable all the other fields in the dialog and enable you to set the order required.

To select a field, double click the required field in the Available fields list. This will add the field to the selected fields list and remove it from available. Each field may only be used once in the sorting.

To remove a field, double click the field in the Selected fields list.

By default, fields are added in ascending order. To sort the field in a descending order place a check mark against the field in the selected fields list.:

Press save to complete your changes:

Close the dialog with the close button or by pressing the escape key on the keyboard.

Applying the Auto Sort on demand

The auto sort will be applied whenever a cut sheet is calculated for off-coil/non optimised type cuts. This results in the correct ordering of tags when the cut sheet is printed.

To manually apply the auto sort for preview purposes, right click the selected parts list and use the apply auto sort function to sort the items in the list.
