How to Change the Time Period of E-mails Downloaded in Outlook.

Background

By default, Outlook updates emails far back from one year's time. This knowledge base article provides instructions on how to configure the time period for outlook to update.


Steps to Follow

  1. Click on the File button from the top left-hand side in outlook.


  2. Click on the Accounts Settings button and then click on the Accounts Settings... option from the drop-down list. This will open up the Account Settings Window.


  3. Click on the mailbox where you need to change the settings.
     

  4. Click on the Change button from the toolbox on top. This will open up the  Exchange Account Settings Window.


  5. Select how long of the time period you need outlook to download emails. By default recommended time periods are 6 months of time or 1 year.


  6. Click on the Next button.
  7. Click on the Done button to save your work.

  8. Close the Outlook application and open it up again for the changes to take effect.
    PLEASE NOTE: We can check if the email box is still being downloaded from the bottom right corner of Outlook.
